  • Senior executive with extensive financial and general management experienced gained from working within UK, US and German multinationals both in the UK and overseas. Held a number of senior positions including that of Managing Director for one of Scotland's largest manufacturing companies.

  • Chaired a new Internet start-up company operating within the travel sector.


  • Spent time as the Finance Director, on a part time basis, for a company with an innovative automotive sector product. Established proper accounting controls and reporting procedures. Developed a new Business Plan that led to new private equity investment of £350,000, secured a RSA grant funding and established a new franchising subsidiary business.


  • Supported a number of innovative companies through an investor ready process leading to equity investment. Prepared a SPUR Plus. Business growth fund, and other funding applications.


  • Business adviser to Stirling University's commercialisation programme (SURE). Developed the business case, which lead to establishing a legal entity to handle the University's commercialisation activities. Also prepared a strategy paperon the University's Innovation Park proposing its activities be re-focused to establish a 'state of the art' facility. Currently providing business advice and support to potential spinout companies from both academics and students. Supporting a new and innovative pre-incubator programme for companies formed by students and recent graduates.


  • Involved in a number of voluntary activities:


    • Member of the Board of Management at Edinburgh's Telford College - Chair of the Finance Committee. Currently involved with the new campus relocation project.


    • Board member (acting Chair) and Treasurer, The Counselling and Support Service for Alcohol and Drugs based in Stirling - negotiated and rationalised core funding to secure the agencies ongoing financial resources.


    • Aftercare counsellor for The Prince's Scottish Youth Business Trust - currently advising four new start up companies.


    • Business Mentor for the Scottish Enterprise Business Mentoring programme - worked with four individuals who are running their own companies.


  • Creative team player, not afraid to get his hands dirty, able to make things happen.


  • Strengths include strategic vision combined with excellent influencing, communication and organisational skills.
